actually it's not a rocket science, SONY did this on PSN with their PS2 and PS1 games for PS3. I also have a doubt how Power PC able to emulate perfectly on hardware and software level on Mediacore spec like Jaguar.  If they can do emulation i bet it only emulate old games that came on Xbox one early first year. If they can do i bet PS4 able to do the same thing but with more dificulty, assuming Xbox One does the emulation on hardware and software level.

It's software emulation.  There is no hardware to play last gen games.

Sony also used software emulation only after the second generation of PS3s.  None of the slims had hardware.

Probably,  but i doubt that. Because no physical copy of PS2 games able to play on my slim PS3, so my conclusion is all the PS2 and PS1 games on PNS are some kind of raw port (port of games but without enhancing the graphic). And i think the same thing goes with how the emultion worked on Xbox One. And also Phil Spencer also said that we have to download the games if we want to use the physical copy using ( my prediction is the same with Vivster here using verivication of original disc on every Xbox 360 games )
