Comparing apples to oranges again, I see... GTA and Mario Kart fill such opposite roles on the gaming continuum that about the only thing you can fairly compare between the two is how well the driving physics work. And even there, what's your basis for comparison? The realism? The fun factor?

GTA4 and Mario Kart Wii are totally unrelated. Neither is going to have a meaningful impact on each other, and ultimately you'll just see a lot of cases where people love one and hate the other. Unsurprisingly; when you compare a "games are art/ultra-violence is king" style game to a "games are fun/family-friendly is key" style game, you're going to get some pretty big rifts in opinion.

i think we are comparing evolution of this 2 series/franchises.

gta 4 is... well it's the same 1997-gta-1 game except 3d graphic which makes it still 2001-gta-3 game so we're only play 1997-gta-1 with better graphic all over again.

mario kart wii - well every entrance to the franchise is different which makes it so special, because you can like it more or less, but mario kart series is always great fun. nintendo is still working on mario kart so they can add something completely new and unique  to every new kart game.

mario kart franchise is always evolving with each new entrance to the franchise while gta franchise is dead since 1997 if we are talking about basics and mechanics and since 2001 if we are talking about the graphics of the game.
