As for the accelerometer, I would say that the boxing game in Wii Sports was probably the only bad use of the accelerometer in the collection. I'm willing to bet that it can be done much better as developers learn how to use it properly.
Well I have to disagree with you on that. It is a hardware limitation.
the meter goes from 1-100. That is all the sensor detects. Obviously 100 is not very diffrent from 1. That is the problem with the sensor. It is as simple as 1-100. There is no real way to "optimize" for it. It's like the pressure sensitive buttons on the PS2. They are very hard to get anywhere but 0 or 100. It can be done, but it is horrible. That is why you so rarely see it EVER used. I think the acceleromoter on the PS3/Wii going the same way as a on/off switch.
