You need to explain your definition of quality. The quality of something vs whether you like it or not is two diffrent debates.
Example: Im not going to argue the quality of Uncharted, but I could give rat ass about series. Im not asking how you feel about CC vs CT as a game but the quality of its parts.
CC has the higest of quality in every part. ( presentation, sound, writing, story, battle system). If I knock CC for anything it is the extremely easy difficulty. Every boss should of been garai/Miguel

Yes, I liked Chrono Cross less than Chrono Trigger because it was a lower quality game. It was relatively boring and lifeless, hence less quality of a release. And this whole quote tree was about what I, sc94597, would prefer. I would prefer a Chrono Trigger remake to a new Chrono because I doubt Square-Enix in 2015 can make a quality release. This is partly because they put their developers who would be relevant to such a game on the backburner, but also because of how poor their games have been for the last ten years. I also think that if Square in the PS1 era, couldn't make an Chrono game as enticing as they did with Chrono Trigger (no matter how good it was on its own) I doubt today's Square-Enix could even match Chrono Cross.
And you respond with your opinion as if it represents some objective "quality." Presentation and sound were excellent (I preferred Chrono Cross music to Trigger's), writing was atrociously messy (in my opinion), story was hurt because of said atrociously messy writing, and the battle system while OK wasn't the focus of the game and I find the battle systems of countless other RPG's to be better. Hence, it was a slightly above-average game because it didn't mess much up, but not so great as I found the story to be poorly executed. Another gripe I had was that not many characters were fleshed out and there were just too many of them to deal with. The premise was also not as interesting and fresh as Chrono Trigger's.

I agree with most of what you said, however I would like this to be a new entry in the Chrono series rather than a remake of Chrono Trigger. Even though Square Enix haven't released any gems in the past decade or so, should we just give up as gamers? I'd rather they keep trying.

The problem I have is that Square Enix will more likely than not release a bad/mediocre Chrono game, nobody will buy it, and they'll come to the conclusion that nobody wants Chrono. If they get their crap together with FFXV, and their top-selling series (Final Fantasy) is good again, then I'll have some level of faith that they will do well with less popular series like Chrono. Until then I'd rather they not ruin the reputation of the series in the unlikely event that at some point in the future they do publish/develop gems again, and only then will they invest the effort, money, and talent needed to make a good Chrono game. If the next Chrono game were as good as Chrono Cross I'd be happy, but I don't think there is a chance of that happening, and I'd rather they release Chrono Trigger HD so that they can see the sales potential of a good game rather than the lack of sales potential of a bad one.
