Sony seem to have changed and don't want 2 SKUs on the market any more so I'm wondering if they'll use the 500gb 'clearence' sale as a way of boosting PS4 sales for a couple of months. All they have to say at the conference is the 1tb version is replacing the 500gb version and it would be seen as 'no price cut' but in reality, Sony could still manufacture the 500gb version for a while and sell it off cheaper under the guise of 'a clearence'. It gives them leeway for dropping the price without giving the impression they've dropped the price (if you follow).
The PS5 Exists.
