I think they are doing it just to do it. I dont know, im getting a whole monkey see monkey do vibe from MS. THey just do it cause others are and IMHO they dont come close (games, phones, etc.)

They been like this since the reception of the drm fiasco. Some may choose to think they are listneing to consumers, in a way they are, but they are listening when they say why does the competition have this and we dont? and like you say, the competition still does it better. Maybe cuz their device was not build for it, while the competition was build to suporrt it from day one.
