Not a lot of hype.  It got commercials but there was a TON of negative articles leading up to release which counts as dampened hype.  Overall I'd say most people wanted it to fail because it's a PS4 exclusive and they don't like cinematic games.  I enjoy both gameplay and cinematic games and really enjoyed the order and will keep it unlike most games where I sell after beating them since it's so cinematic and that adds replayability for me.
