excuse me but how is a niche hack and slash supposed to take the place of a uber popular FPS series?

Because I'm tired of the same old thing from that uber popular FPS series, especially the constant lag for the online multiplayer.  So I'm hoping for something new and more exciting.  Most likely Devil's Third won't fill the void all together but I'm willing to give a new IP a chance and see what happens.
