I cannot decide between ThunderForce 4, Contra Hard Corps Uprising, or Ghosts and Goblins. Those three games were just punishing games.

Again, I understand there are more, such as Ocarina of Time Master Quest, but the aforementioned are generally the first ones that come to mind.
