Because Santa Monica has been known to hurt incubated developers more than help them. Look at literally every game they co-developed and co-published after the first Fat Princess. They're all plagued with support issues and get mostly crap because SMS does nothing to even try and help like they're supposed to (except possibly raise the game's budget to embezzle it over to their own projects Gearbox style).

RAD has a fairly talented studio. Without SMS holding them back they should be able to work their way up the ladder a decent amount. They probably won't actually go multiplat but rather tinker with exclusivity on each side for a while. Think Insomniac.

Lol, are you seriously trying to put this on SMS now?

Not completely. RAD knew what they were getting into by delivering style without substance. Sony wanted a gorgeous game and they hoped people would turn a blind eye when it wasn't a very good game. All three are at fault here. But there's been an increasingly prominent trend of SMS being involved in games and seemingly doing nothing to help them. More often than not we see clear evidence of them HURTING the game, with PSAS, Twisted Metal, Starhawk, etc. all getting shafted in post-launch support promised quickly by SMS.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!
