HappySquirrel raises a valid point. I even once saw a self-proclaimed hardcore gaming site deride GTA as "casual crap", which is in defiance the concept of there being casual or hardcore games. GTA is not a "casual" game, nor is any game truly "casual". How can a game possibly be a perfect reflection of the dedication levels it will see? It can't, of course. Even Wii Sports, the favorite example of a "casual" game, has devoted users who dedicate more hours to it per week than some self-proclaimed "hardcore" gamers dedicate to Halo 3 and the like each week.
As ever, it's downmarket vs. upmarket, not casual vs. hardcore.
Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.
