From what I gathered, SE and Crystal Dynamics had this deal planned out with MS before this gen began. 3rd party publishers, including Square Enix, thought the XBO would fare a lot better than how it's actually doing and did not anticipate the shift in marketshare from last gen to this gen. And well... SE must be kicking themselves right now.
