Why is Nintendo Wii dominating Sony PS3 and Microsoft 360?

and dont tell me the GC was lower because 100 dollar difference is completely different then a 400 dollar difference

(GC launched at 199 in USA. ps2 was 299.)

(Wii was 249 ps3 was 599... huge difference)

Going by such a claim, we are to assume that the PS3 is the default purchase and that the "price difference" is what is causing people to buy the Wii instead in droves?

It seems strange to me. I was always under the assumption that people were buying these platforms to play the games on them. And Blu-Ray movies for PS3 too.
