However, here in CA, no 9.8 earthquakes have been felt. 

A 9.8, would be felt far, far beyond CA (Japan's was felt in a ~2500km radius and it was a 9.0) 

Ye - Yeah, that's right! I knew that! I live in CA after all, so I should know everything about earthquakes. I mean I live near a precarious fault line so I need to know everything in case the big one hits!

I should really brush up my knowledge about earthquakes...
