Personally, his legacy comment to me simply means they no longer support it with internet software.  But the Internet ran with it to mean the console is completely dead thus the need to rush out a PR "correction".  Unfortunately for Sony, they may need another PR spin to fix the PR spin.

I didn't take it to mean that ... I took it to mean that they won't actively be making games for it (aside from, hopefully, Gravity Rush 2). 

I don't see why they would turn online support off for it, though. Can't imagine it takes that many resouces ... plus, software sales are still pretty decent. Vita isn't dead, but it is now more than ever certainly niche.
