I will watch the tournament (been watching all women's Euro and WC tournaments since - I think - 1999), but I never do predictions, because I find them pointless.

This will be the first major football tournament on articifical turf, a fact which caused protests by prominent players:

The top favorites are as usual USA and Germany. Other teams with chances to go far are France (they made it to the Algarve Cup final this year), Sweden, Norway, and probably Brazil, Canada and Denmark.

I doubt that the current world champion Japan will play a big role this time.

I'll root for Germany of course.

Fun fact about our team: One of Germany's top midfielders and most prominent players, 27 years old Lira Alushi (formerly known as Lira Bajramaj, she was world champion in 2007 and Euro champion in 2009 and 2013 and is now married to Enis Alushi, a football player from FC St. Pauli) announced two weeks ago that she's pregnant and will miss the tournament.
