You can say that about EVERY game EVER.
For example, why did people think The Order 1886 would sell well? Was a short, single player only, cinematic experience. Still managed to sell a reasonable 800k.
Yes it could be Nintendo fans hyping it up, but fans of every console hype up everything exclusive on their console of choice.
Also, it depends on your definition of selling well. Personally anything selling around 1mill is very well.
