What are you talking about? God of War is amoung the biggest and most important franchises Sony has to offer. Its A tier along with Uncharted and Gran Turismo, all of them nothing short of systemsellers.
Your point that confirms Santa Monica is actually not a good developer is? With the trilogy, SSM delivered 3 highly criticly acclaimed games which set the gold standard for all games in its genre. A lesser team would never have achieved this level of quality 3 times in a row.
And how the hell did Kratos ever damaged the PlayStation brand? In fact, PS3 was under great demand when God of War III released.
