i just wish sony lived up to their promise that they made during the feb 13 unveiling of the ps4. cerny and others tried to make us believe that we were going to see ps2 level support, and that isnt even close to what happened. they tried to get us to believe that the development cycles will be more like ps1/ps2 and less like ps3, but that also isnt even close to what ended up happening. instead of all that, make way for exclusive partnerships with third parties so people can buy the multiplat on ps4 instead of x1. i wish sony would just focus that effort on making games of their own.

I would absolutely say that we're seeing ps2 level of support. Indie games are floboard the market, Japanese devs are back on board and because of this the platform already has a library that is only second to steam. They've put PlayStation center stage for the entire company. How is there not ps2 level of support? The difference I see, is back then GTA, MGS, Final Fantasy were 3rd party exclusive. Now they've gone multiplat. So instead of securing all these outsourced exclusives, they've secured third party exclusive advertising. This is the day and age we live in now (something that was brought about in part by MS mind you) and this just might be our next golden era of gaming.

Honestly, have you never seen people exclaim that PS4 is the true successor to PS2?

people only say the ps4 is the successor to ps2 because of sales. all of the "RETURN OF THE PS2" rhetoric is because of how it is crushing the competition. thats the only thing these two consoles have in common.

ps4 isnt the only platform where you can get a ton of indie games either. have you ever taken a look at nintendo's eShop? playstation is the center stage for the entire company because all their other endeavors have failed. and im not saying that to be mean, thats just what happened. sony is in desperate need of restructuring, and theyre lucky the ps4 took off like it did because it is buying them time to create something sustainable for themselves. and yes, i totally blame MS for all these bullshit tactics that both of those companies resort to. because of this nonsense, i would never consider any era that relies on this to be a golden age of anything. if that is what companies need to do in order to be profitable and sustain themselves, then that means there is something severely wrong with the industry and it needs to crash again and be built from the bottom up. it wouldnt bother me at all if it all fell apart. if it means saying goodbye to day 1 DLC, microtransactions, overinflated budgets, broken games, season passes, and rereleasing 1 year old games, then i say BRING IT. it needs to come to an end. i know i got off topic there, but oh well. thats how i feel.
