Haven't actually played 6, but I definitely agree that 7 is overrated and 9 was much better. Kinda sucks how forgotten it has become really, it was a fantastic game!

Yeah it is, I still love 6 more than 9, but both are equally awesome. 

You can play 6 on a GBA emulator easily, the game is very emotional, deep and fun even for today standarts, is amazing.
