I'm looking at it from when for example Nintendo released the WII U a year earlier, the seventh gen was still the main one and it didn't really end up until late 2013. We can also use the XBOX 360 as an example. Even though it released as a seventh gen console in 2005 the sixth gen was still the main console gen up until late 2006.
