Out of the two possibilities, I'd pick the smaller one. The one with 1536 is too close to GTX 970 territory.

Yeah, even the 1280 variant tops AMD's 280x according to the benchmarks, so I'm guessing the 960 will be dropped down to maybe $180 when RX 300 releases next month, and the 960 ti will be introduced at maybe $220-230.

Yeah, that would be a good pricing, but only if Nvidia is forced to drop the price. After all, we don't know how agressive will AMD be.
