"This seems like the most locigal choice for a range of devices that is supposed to play the same games."

1. There is NO EVIDENCE pointing to nintendo going for a range of devices that play the same games.

2. Even if they were, there's no relation between hardware and media. the portable could have a 8-16gb cartidge and the home console a bluray/whatever with no problem.

1. Iwata has made many statements that hint at such a thing being possible.

2. But what's the point of having two separate forms of media if they are trying to make all games compatible with either device?

1. Iwata said nothing that sugested such a thing. he hinted at same architeture on two separate devices, each with it's own games. This fusion thing is nothing but baseless predictions.

2. Because the media has nothing to do with the game itself and cartridges are better suited for handhelds (besides having better compression and handhelds games being naturally smaller).
