How can people really believe... there are actually 120 million PS2 working in the world..... i don't have a single friend that bought less than 2 PS2.... don't flame right away.... I'm not saying it's because they all broke (some did) but you have also the guy leaving the parents' house to go to college or something.... letting the PS2 to the young brother and buying a new slim one for his dorm.... you have people who just want a slim one..... or many other possible situation where PS2s are bought but they virtually don't gain a new user.....
and on top of that you have to consider that you can get a used game for cheap after a while so there is no point to buy a brand new one... or they are not even publishing the game anymore.... all those second hand games are not counted.....
so why those number don't change a lot... well because the actual install base is way behind the sales number... and because game sales are just for brand new games.... put that together and you have that weird result.. but when you think about it, it's logical....
off topic : it could be interesting to ask on the sony forum, how many PS2 people bought and why?
