Because of the more diversified userbase?

We'd be seeing high numbers across the board if that were the case and we're not.

The site does not track all the sales for the PS2, so our PS2 charts seem really low. There are also alot more used games for the PS2 at blockbuster or ebgames/gamestop then there were for box/Gamecube, along wth the higher casual audience that would rather rent games for the system then buy them.  This would lower the sales for the PS2 software over all.

I'm also not sure how many units of software the xbox shipped but both the PS2/Gamecube have about a 10 game ratio per system sold.  The PS2 was also replaced by alot of people so this makes the games sold per system for the PS2 just that much more amazing.

So your argument isn't that the PS2 has a high install base but that X% of those are replacements?

Why does that feel so ironic...
