The Nintendo 3DS has already shipped 52.06 million consoles worldwide...that fact has made SCEI reticent about announcing any future sales milestones. Why announce your console has sold 10 million when your direct competitor has sold five times more?
Personally I think the Vita has already surpassed 10 million, but Sony doesn't want to draw attention to the Vita's low sales after 3 and a half years at retail.
