So, I just thought about the sales and reasons for each console this generation (I know there are MANY threads already) and what nintendo could have done better.

My conclusion is, that a wii u with similar hardware as the ps4 would have won this generation easily.

I got some reasons for that:

- X86 CPU would make ports and third party support alot easier

- Because of the weak wii hardware, it would still be possible to emulate wii games on an stronger, x86 based wii u. It could be done pretty similar to dolphin emulator. Bringing a new console that run all wii games but in 1080p could helped alot in my opinion.

- Getting Nintendo exclusives and third party games like gta, skyrim and co would give nintendo the strongest lineup ever.

I think a strong wii u (same releasedate as ps4/xbox one) with similar hardware for somethink like 500 bucks would be easiy no1. Third partys would probl bring their games much more to this console as they did to the wii u. Many people didnt saw any sense in getting a wii u on its release, mainly because you could get the same game expiereince scince years by microsoft and sony and most people already got their console. Thats why alot of the third party didnt want to take the risk to bring the games on the console (the wii u got almost no hype). And later this was the reason, many people dont got the wii u at all (because many games missing) or just as a 2nd.

Also i dont think the high price would hurt sales in any way. Many people who got the wii u are using it as a secondary console, so their overall costs for the wii u are even higher (eg wii u + ps4) as if they just could get 1 single console. The bad wii image (kids, casuals) could be revised with strong hardware.
