As a US citizen my post actually reflected how I see our government passes bills lol. For instance, the SOPA act. Wound up voting no on it only for some of the core principals to pop up later and I believe get passed because the general public was not well informed.

SOPA only failed because of a grass roots awareness campaign from outside the Government.  Had enough people calling into their reps to make them fear for their jobs.
