It is rumored that Nintendo could have got exclusive rights to the first Skylandes, so they have known about the concept since before 2011. Nintendo announced in early 2012 that the Wii U would have NFC. Everyone that heard about this expected them to produce something like Skylanders as a launch game or shortly after. Two years later they have manufactured all the toys but they still have not made the game to go with the toys. How is this even possible? Activision and Disney make new toys and new games annually and Nintendo do nothing. WHY?
One year ago Nintendo announced that they would produce the toys but Satoru “Nintendo is not good at competing” Iwata had to make them "smarter" than Skylanders and Disney so it all ended up in nothing at all.
EDIT: Nintendo did make Pokémon Rumble with cheap "amiboos"!
