That was not because the console was popular or not.
Bayonetta got 22 GOTY awards... Super Smash Bros. 28... Mario Kart 8 28.
My personal GOTY was Destiny (13 awards).
Only Dragon Age (134) and Middle-earth (49) got more awards.
