Consoles are dying too then. ;)

Which is why both Sony and MS are already looking to a post console future for video games. Why do you think Nintendo are experimenting in the mobile sector now?

The writing is on the wall for dedicated devices. It's just a matter of when that will be.

The reason Vita suffered disproportionately from mobile to the 3DS is quite simple. Many PSP owners bought them for the media capabilities as much as the gaming. Now that mobile offers all that, the biggest selling point Sony had is wiped out. Parents don't want their kids to have smartphones so there is still a market for the "child friendly" handheld device.

There will always be a core of people who want a dedicated handheld, who aren't under 12, however that isn't enough of a market for Sony and they haven't got the brand or IPs to compete with Nintendo in the under 12 market.

I honestly think they're doomed once home consoles cease to exist (gaming industry alone of course). There's no reason to subscribe to a PS platform to stream games. They should invest more money in their first party studios if they want to remain relevant.
