Exactly. Which leads me to believe that the game would get boring if people were allowed to play it for more than a few hours at a time.

In other words, a regular demo might actually cause people to lose interest in the full game.

It could be, yes.

But maybe it's what others have said in the thread: with the need for 8 players to play, Nintendo could have restricted the hours to play to guarantee that there will be enough people to play.
