As of right now I'll use Witcher 3 for my example.  The game at the moment costs 62.99 on the store if I was to preorder it today. That plus the fact there is no tax as well I end up saving about $14 overall. For me that is a fairly decent amount back in my pocket to get the game roughly at the same time.  However I love having physical versions of my console games. I don't ever trade games in nor do I rarely lend them out to buddies.  So should I just accept that if I can go digital and save some money I should do it. Is going majority physical a thing of the past? Am I just cheaping out?

If you really think about it, you're not saving anything by going digital and saving $14.  You can always sell the physical copy months in the future while it retains it's price then purchase it again at $20 in the future.  Physical can always be sold an repurchased, digital is with you forever whether you have plans of playing it again or not.
