Considering that nintendo consoles have a cycle of 6 years, the WiiU still has a ways to go.

It's 5 years, and the last/last2 are dry.

Yep, N64/GC/Wii each had 4 strong years of support then the 5th/6th year really bare with the exception of a couple titles. Based on that, I would say 2016 will be the last year of solid support for Wii U from Nintendo. Here are the North American retail releases of 1st/2nd party Wii U games.

2013-Lego City Undercover, Game & Wario, Pikmin 3, New Super Luigi U, Wonderful 101, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Wii Party U, Mario & Sonic: Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, Super Mario 3D World

2014-Wii Fit U, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8, Wii Sports Club, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, NES Remix Pack

2015-Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Mario Party 10, Splatoon, Yoshi's Woolly World, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Mario Maker, Devil's Third, Fatal Frame V: Oracle of the Sodden Raven, Star Fox

9 titles each in 2013/2014/2015 so let's assume 2016 has the same amount.

2016-Shin Megami Tensei × Fire Emblem, Pokken Fighters, Paper Mario, Metroid Prime, Animal Crossing, Diddy Kong Racing, Punch-Out!, Super Mario Sunshine HD, Legend of Zelda

I could see something like that next year and maybe 2-3 more 1st/2nd party retail titles in 2017 and a successor in late 2017.
