I continue to not understand why people apparently upset about season passes still buy games from that publisher.  Mario Kart 8 looks like a fun game but it has a season pass so I have committed to not buying it.

Eh? Mario kart 8 has the best value per price of any DLC in the market. That is the one you should be buying, if you like the game.
