Looking at internet forums, YouTube and just the general internet, one can easily see that numerous gamers are hyped up for certain new IP's such as Yooka-Laylee and Splatoon. The former in fact has raised over 1,000,000 British pounds on kick starter.

Now the question is why are gamers so hyped up for these games and new IP's in general? So far apart from the developers and the game's PR team putting these games in a positive light ( and at the end of the day it's their job to do so ) and some gameplay footage these games and new IP's have still not delivered enough to obtain the hype they have achieved.

It's not the first time that gamers have been disappointed when a new IP fails to deliver. An excellant recent example is The Order 1886 which not only failed to deliver on the hype but at the end of the day it was a generally perceived as mediecore. Therefore why do gamers still hype up new IP's even though we've already had a taste, numerous times of disappointment when these new IP's fail to deliver? Is it maybe because gamers at the end of the day are hyped up by very easily?

Uhh, Splatoon has had glowing previews from all events it appeared at and Yooka Laylee is the long overdue spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie. Too be clear Splatoom was adored by non-media gamers at Evo who had naught to lose by slamming it.

It'd make far more sense you ask this question about Last Gaurdian and Scalebound. Neither of which have had demos or precessors as far as I know. Infact tney only thing they have going for them is having the same level of talent as Yooka-Laylee and Splatoon making them.

@Bolded: I.E Yooka and Laylie are hyped because of nostalgia and Splatoon is hyped because of a preview which was made by Nintendo to showcase the best of the game. In conclusion all hype is for almost nothing or us fabricated.

@Underlined: Of course those two games ( Mostly the last guardian though ) are the definition of Gamers being hyped up easily for almost nothing.
