I don't buy EA games either way, but yes, I haven't bought games that require Uplay.
I never bought Anno 2070 even though the Anno series is one of my favorites and is consistently good. I'm sure 2070 is good as well but I can't support a game of which I can't be sure it works indefinitely. I don't 'rent' games when I buy them, which is what DRM effectively comes down to. These are games I would play for decades.
