This is probably meant to be a joke or something, but for years my parents have been complaining that poorly-implemented CGI, especially during action sequences, "looks like a video game."

Like, since long before games had any business being compared to film-quality CGI.

On that note, it's interesting that "looks/feels like a video game" is used as an insult in regards to movies, while "this is (almost) like a movie" and the buzzword "cinematic" are used as positives in regards to video games.

"Cinematic" can be good (for true fans of that genre, that is, and a minority of the other gamers that have quite wide-ranging tastes) in a very small minority of videogames (but it was really a plague in the dreaded FMV era, and even now just very few "cinematic" games are really good). OTOH a movie that tries to look like a video game is almost unavoidably bad, as a movie totally lacks the interactive aspect, so any possible valid reason for the mix is missing. This shouldn't actually be meant as a videogames fault, as it's due to something that MOVIES are missing, NOT videogames.
