AR is he future period... The real question is when will it be market ready... And who will be first to make it viable commercially in terms of specs and price....
Anybody doubting that is as narrow minded than people saying man would never fly or go to space or will populate orher planets and why not other systems or galaxies... The question is not really if but when and what will it take... For one terraforming and transgenerational space travel... Which will be achievable... For the other a decent price a confortable compact stand alone device with a full FOV... Which will be achievable sooner than the other...
Now who will be first to WIN that race is up in the air...
But saying it's a gimmick.... Yeah like flying right???
(this goes for motion control too) and don't get me started on both combined... Anybody dismissing it on the long term is either in grave clinical denial (hint you should get that checked) or severely blind (you should get that checked too)....
