It's best to ignore what some random member on a forum says no matter how much they are declared "checked" by the mods. Lotta bullshit came out of so called approved insiders on both reddit and gaf. Tuhway, Cboat, even Verendus, who claimed the Sly 4 devs were working on Sly 5, several months later those devs said they never worked on a sequel.

I think the important part of the Sony sentence is the "hats" part, implying a strong emphasis or at least the existence of several money hats.
Also I don't really get your interpretation of the last sentence.
And did Verendus really claim that Sly 5 was made by Sanzaru? Maybe he just said it was being made at all, with the movie coming in 2016 I'd be mighty surprised if there wasn't a game in development as well.

Yeah, he said 4 sold well and the sequel was being made by Sanzaru. Because it wouldn't make sense to let someone else make 5 when Sanzaru had critical and commercial success.
Money hats with Japanese devs would be welcome, though it would surprise me if they went for them considering their own studios cover basically everything and they already got a fighter with SF5 and PS4 is selling itself with multiplats. So hopefully vendus is at least right about those PS4 Sega exclusives.
