It could go either way I guess. Xenoblade sales are a bit more easy to predict I think and will sell well.

Splatoon could either fall short of the expectations or do extremely well and become a pretty big ip for Nintendo.

I'm optimistic at this point as critics are generally positive towards Splatoon and the public has also respondent positive. People certainly are interested in the game, evident for example by the being the cover story on Edge, and Nintendo is keen to market the game with Amiibo and presence on conventions. My vote is on Splatoon.

Even if it falls short though, I don't see it become a W101 type bomb as some are suggesting. The game is pretty good but I never expected it to do well. It was basically a niche game within a somewhat niche genre. Didn't feel like it had a viable target audience to me. Splatoon will most likely do well with the traditional Nintendo fans, and possibly kids and open minded (as in not just CoD and BF) shooter fans as well.
