The maps are definitely made for 16 players. 10 and less would be too empty, but I found 16 player matches easily.
Only two issues with the game, walking is slow and I wish there were health pots a la Team Fortress 2.
Can you get more than level 1 in the beta? Level 2 Fast Move might help with the slowness.
