You really need to own a big amount of stocks/bonds to make a living out of it imo. Most people use it to earn some extra money/get an interest that is actually higher than inflation.

Generally, you need about 20,000 to make any kind of meager living off of it.

But hey, if you can add one weeks paycheck into your month, that's pretty good. I'm currently adding about 1k every 2 weeks into my portfolio.
