How so?

Because they have had 5 straight quarters of sharply falling iPad sales.  People have realised they are useless for proper work (windows tablets, hybrids far superior) and a cheap windows based or android is just as good (better) for casual use.

However, a dark spot on the company's earnings release showed a larger-than-expected slowdown in iPad shipments. Apple said it shipped 12.6 million iPads during its most recent quarter, which Bloomberg pointed out was the company's fifth-straight quarter of falling iPad sales. The company's iPad shipment figure represented a 23 percent year-over-year decline--greater than the 17 percent decline that analysts had expected.

I am curious if people hang onto iPads longer than iPhones.  iPhone owners I know upgrade ever 2-3 years so many are on 3rd iPhone, but they still have 1 iPad and never upgraded.

I do agree I prefer Microsoft's strategy for my business use as that keyboard attachment and all makes it very useful.
