The scares were pretty cool and freaked me out, but fighting your way through wave after wave of clone bad guys (literally, lol) through cramped and dark corridors wasn't my definition of awesome. On top of that, I hated how everything relied on you, yet you're character has no name (or face for that matter). Almost like a failed Gordon Freeman attempt in this game. But hey, at least it wasn't like Doom 3 with monster closets in every dark room, right? |
To this day, I have not played a game with better AI than FEAR which was made 3 years ago. Also the guns blazing gun play is only rivaled by Halo 3 to this day...which I preffer over the more strategic COD4/Ghost Recon approach.
Visuals were guite impressive at the time with slow mo effects. Plus story is pretty cool...even though its kind of played out now. Many games and movies have done similar stories in recent years... Rating when I played it in 2005 would be a 9.5 for me.
The only general complaint is that it did not have variety which I agree and I hope the sequel fixes.
For the sequel, I don't expect the game to do huge numbers in sales but reviews I'm sure will be stellar. I've not played a bad Monolith game yet.
