I own both, and MK8 wins by a landslide.
Edit: I want to elaborate. I bought SASRT on the PS3 about 2 years before I got a Wii U, and while I really enjoyed it at the time, I played it for about a couple months and never went back. Fast forward to May 2014, and I was obsessed with Mario Kart 8. Played it for months and months, and I'm still playing it today due to intuitive and fast online, as well as DLC support. Really, everything feels better in MK8 to me. The controls, the music, the graphics, the framerate, the tracks, etc. Really, there's no other kart racer I'd rather play (and that's including CTR which was the epitome of my childhood).
