Just because Halo 3 moved an extra 60k retail at launch doesn't mean it wasn't selling consoles long before or after that. I bought an Xbox 360 for Halo 3 a couple months before the game released. I bought an Xbox One because of Halo. Both of those examples make your point invalid.

No they don't, for one thing you're one person, not the community on the whole, secondly other games sold the system as well, what I'm saying is that the install base won't spike enormously when the system get's a new major Halo game, which is what the numbers prove and it makes my point absolutely valid based on the facts.

Most people have more than just one reason to buy a system.

If Halo was the system seller that people make it out to be then the hardware numbers would have to move more in line with the software sales, but that doesn't happen.

Many people have argued that Halo 5 is going to cause a huge rise in Xbox One sales, but in order for that to happen then the sales of the console need to increase when the game comes out, otherwise it's a matter of people buying the game because they already had an XB1.
