I really, really like Killing Floor, and I really want this game, but this policy should SCREAM caution, to everyone. And, in fact, this is precisely the reason I resisted doing any business through steam for a very long time (electing for physical where applicable). Who's to say you and a group of friends aren't just saying heinous shit to each other (which DOES happen), and someone overhears it? Where exactly is the line drawn? |
Well, here's what the developers actually said about the policy (which the OP cut out when he posted the news for some reason):
"It's there so that, if at some point in the future, some individual gets utterly out of control and is being abusive to enough thousands of people to come to our attention - we can actually take action," Tripwire said.
So unless your friends are actively abusing thousands of players, I'm not sure you have much to worry about. And again, this has existed as a part of online only games for a very long time.
One thing about your post has me curious though: what do you mean by active, real-time oversight?
