Really? Nintendo won their case but they were involved in shady tactics to stay ahead of the competition before the Playstation arrived.

Shady tactics, haha. Nintendo is always portrayed as an evil corporation and Sony as the savior of third parties.

The article you linked to lists several cases:

1. Atari sued Nintendo for allegedly monopolizing the market. Atari lost the case because the court rightly concluded that Atari got into trouble because Atari themselves sucked.

2. Unfair policies towards retailers. This is unspecified, so it would be guesswork what this was about.

3. Nintendo not allowing unlicensed games to be played on their systems. This case is absolutely ridiculous, but it shows what kind of crap Nintendo had to deal with all the time back then. The competition couldn't handle it that they couldn't compete with Nintendo, so they kept suing Nintendo in hopes that the courts would view it as an USA vs. Japan thing and rule in favor of the USA.

This very post determined that that (bolded) was a lie.
