Yeah because the people in the large companies didn't put hard work when they created the unique games and engines used for these mods... How shitty of them, not letting other people use their creations to profit off of without compensation. Oh yeah they belong to a large corporation, so they don't count as human beings, I forgot!!

Yeah. Especially Valve put soooo much hard work in Skyrim. And it's not like mods are driving up sales, generating more money for the publisher in the process. I mean you never hear someone say "I love Skyrim so much because of the mods!", do you? So yeah, Publisher and Valve should get most of the money made with mods while those dirty peasant hobby devs should be happy about a nickel and a dime. My bad.

Well Valve put hard-work (and invested money) in creating a platform for the sale of said game/mods and the advertisement thereof. Servers, infrastructure, and the human capital to created steam are not free, you know.

People seem quite happy with their modless console-versions to be honest. I think PC gamers would still buy Skyrim if there weren't mods. I know I still would, and mods make the experience great for me. That is why I think people should be able to monetize them.
